A New World, A New Website, A New Focus…Why?
Hi! Kelly McClymer here.
You may know me from my Once Upon a Wedding historical romance series (first book The Fairy Tale Bride, is free)…
Or you may know me from my Salem Witch Tryouts series (cheerleading witches, yo!)…
Are you seeing a theme? Fairytales? Witches? Magic? Hard won happily ever afters? I write them all.
Even so, this is my first attempt at a serial. I’m scared. And I’m stoked.
I love this world. I love Twist Rhodes. I love Maiden Ash. I love Maiden Snow. I even love Baba Yaga.
A Q&A With My — Slightly Puzzled — Ideal Reader:
Q: Five years? Are you serious?
Yep. And let me just say, this series has been percolating in my brain — and on the pages — for about ten years now. And it’s grown from the trilogy I first envisioned, to a cycle of 7 serializations…plus 1,000 short stories. If you like EverTwixt, you’ll be able to explore new aspects and angles of it for five years…at least.
Q: Why are you torturing us with a serial? I don’t want to wait a week to find out what happens next…especially not for five whole years!
If you really hate cliffhangers, you can wait. At the completion of each cycle of serials (Once Upon a Witch’s Moon, Twice Upon a Witch’s Moon, Thrice Upon a Witch’s Moon, Light Rider, Blood Rider, Dark Rider, and Goldspinner), I will be boxing up the episodes into a complete season, that you can read from beginning to end, all at once. If you are a very, very, patient soul.
Q: How do I know I’ll be interested in EverTwixt?
Because I love it of course… Or you can try the first episode free, here, if you don’t trust me.
Q: What if I really don’t want to read a serialization?
You can still be a member on the EverTwixt site (FREE) and hangout to discuss some of the topics that will be explored in EverTwixt (what is it that makes a hero? can a hero ever be someone quiet and patient, like Cinderella? what does archaeology tell us about women’s lives in ancient pre-history?). There will even be free stuff for you to enjoy, if you want to…or not.
Q: Five years?!?
I’ll give you a little taste of what happened to me when I started thinking about this idea (back then, a trilogy):
First I wondered…what is the oldest fairytale? …and then
… I stumbled onto Vasalisa and Baba Yaga and …
I wondered why Baba Yaga could be either good or evil in her tales.
You couldn’t pin her down to either good, like Cinderella’s fairy godmother…
or bad, like Snow White’s Evil Queen.
If you, a wayward wanderer, decided to ask a favor from Baba Yaga, she might…
…chase you away
…give you what you most desire
And then I started wondering what archaeologists were discovering about ancient pre-history civilizations…the ones who first told fairytales, created legends, and shared folktales…
If you stick around, I’ll be sharing a lot of what I’ve learned (and am still learning).
Word of warning — you’ll probably find there are more questions than answers…
which is why I created EverTwixt…
and plan to explore every crooked angle, shady aspect, and bent twig of the world…
with you, I hope.
