In Once Upon a Witch’s Moon, I give the place Baba Yaga resides a name — EverTwixt. It is a place has been described as always moving in the fairytales that feature Baba Yaga.
In my fictional world, EverTwixt does not actually move, it simply exists in a slipstream that makes it seem like it moves to human beings.
EverTwixt is Baba Yaga’s prison, palace, and playground. Those who wander within it’s boundaries are subject to her will. Those without pure hearts must beware making her angry.
Interestingly, those chicken legs on her cabin? They have a basis in history. Not actual chicken legs, of course, but tree stumps that look similar to chicken legs.
Even more interestingly, dolls and doll houses have been found that look like Baba Yaga and her house in miniature — and some potential cremation sites have been found that suggest in ancient Siberia people were cremated in such structures. Check it out here.
